Art
I never thought of myself as an artist until much later in life. After the birth of my son in 2010, I wanted to create a special keepsake for his first birthday, and wrote “Mr. Bunnyman”. On a lark, I illustrated it too. Those early stick figures sparked something in me that led to five additional books and ultimately picking up a paintbrush and trying acrylics. I fell in love with the vibrant colors and the endless possibilities. In the beginning, I was drawn to painting my animal friends. I loved the magic each held and exploring the lessons we could learn from them. There was a beautiful challenge to capturing their unique spirit. When covid hit, I needed an outlet to express all the feelings and emotions I was trying to process. Once again, art became my escape and my medicine. I painted the series “Faces and Flowers”. Today, my art dances between my animal friends and the emotive story behind my faces. Each piece an intuitive creation of storytelling with a dash of whimsy.
